Christmas dining around the world

The words "Christmas dinner" invoke pictures of brightly decorated tables laden with lovingly-prepared traditional foods. In Europe and North America it is a time of roaring log fires and family reunions, of mistletoe and holly, of brightly-decorated and illuminated Christmas trees under which beautifully wrapped presents await their bright-eyed recipients. It's a time of joy, laughter and relaxation.

In the southern hemisphere, the weather is hot and sunny, so the occasion has adapted to the location and the climate. As many people like to travel around Christmas time, here is a sampling of some of the world's great restaurants at which to dine in this period.
