Wind power has been a tantalising challenge – the know-how was there, but high production costs and easy access to polluting fuels, combined with some technological hurdles kept wind power on the back-burner. But today, some major design changes have led to huge efficiency improvements that look like taking wind power into becoming a serious contender for producing clean, green and cost-effective electricity.
