The huge Humpback whale was close to extinction when the international whaling agreement was signed not long ago. These magnificent mammals migrate along Australia's East Coast from the Antarctic to the tropical waters of the Great Barrier Reef. On the way, most whales stop for a rest in the sheltered waters near Hervey Bay, Queensland.
