Two Ways to Antarctica |
![]() |
| Every southern hemisphere summer, ships from Australia, New Zealand, Chile and Argentina leave for Antarctica, the last “new frontier” that visitors have only been able to see in very recent decades. But going by ship is now not the only way! An innovative Australian organization hires long-range jumbo 747s that have the ability to fly from southern Australia -- leaving early in the morning, explore Antarctica in daylight, and get back the same night. This 1850 word article takes the reader on one of these magical flights to Antarctica, and then describes the alternative experience by ship. The flights take place January and February, so around the year’s end or the first couple of months of the new year are a perfect time for publication of this article on the ultimate Antarctic adventures. |
