Buenos Aires, Argentina;
the game camps of Botswana;
Budapest, Hungary;
St Petersburg in Russia;
Acapulco in Mexico;
Tahiti in French Polynesia;
Chiang Mai in Thailand's Golden Triangle;
and Venice, arguably the finest surviving medieval city.

The article describes what it is about each of these that makes us want to go back - again and again.
