On the Gobi Desert, the camel is still as important as the truck.
An adventure travel article about our experience in China on a recent trip where we spent a fortune to join a charter journey on Chairman Mao's Chinese State Train. We journeyed from Alma Ata in Khazakstan to Xian, home to the terracotta army. In the process we travelled across the oases of the Gobi desert. Article describes the journey and the people we met, rather than the train.
