A New Dimension in Satellite Navigation

On a recent trip to California I had to drive myself to suburbs and addresses I only knew by name. But getting onto a Californian freeway without knowing where to exit can be a nightmare indeed. The answer was a rental car equipped with satellite navigation. Not only did this take me to the door of the address I had fed into the system, but I had a choice of 'Most use of Freeways', 'Shortest Route', 'Most Scenic Route', and so on.

The information was so accurate, pin pointing my position within 30 feet and getting its information from satellites circling the earth, that I checked to see exactly how this amazing system works. The article fully explains this, and tells of new developments that, linked to the car's telephone, give road conditions and traffic blockages, advise of the nearest gas stations, restaurants and hotels, and, in case of accident rendering the driver unconscious, even phone emergency services and advise the exact location of the accident automatically. If that's not enough, the monitor screen offers local free to air television channels, teletext that gives you the news, weather and even the latest stock-market reports, and links to a minituarised video in the back of the car which activates when the car goes into reverse, showing the driver the exact distance he has left when parking. Science fiction? No way! In many countries you can have this fitted into your car right now.
