Rhodes - In Ancient Footsteps

The island of Rhodes is another of those marvellous places - like Venice, Dubrovnik, Ephesus, Karnak or Pompeii - where you can stand still, half-close your eyes, and let your imagination transport you backwards in time - to the 15th century and the era of knights, the Crusades, and the epic struggle between Christian Europe, led by the Austrians and Venetians, and the Moslem Ottomans who challenged their power.

Until now, Rhodes has been a comparatively well-kept secret of British and German tourists, but the news is out and more and more international tourists are flocking to this lovely island. Article describes some of the significant archaeological sites in Rhodes and the history behind them.
