Paris Gardens |
Parisians and visitors alike enjoy strolling through the Bagatelle Gardens to admire the many varieties of roses on display. |
| While in Paris last year we went to the Bagatelle Gardens, an extension of the Bois de Bologne. Though I have visited many public gardens, I was quite unprepared for these sensational gardens. Acres of flowering bulbs - -daffodils, tulips, crocus, hyacinths and jonquils - carpeted huge expanses of the lawns. Three months later we photographed the rose gardens which were also sensational. There are over 1,000 varieties of roses and each year the winners of the annual rose competitions have their new varieties added into these formal French gardens. |
In Spring, millions of flowering bulbs in the lawns and under the trees, form sheets of glorious colour. |
