Palm Springs Follies |
| Today, Palm Springs, two hours from Los Angeles by freeway, is one of America’s best known retirement destinations. Frank Sinatra loved the place so much that he chose to be buried here. And the late Sonny de Bono made headlines when he was elected mayor some years ago. One of the innovations that revitalised Palm Springs in his time, the Palm Springs Follies is now one of the finest Zigfield-type revue shows to be found anywhere. What makes this one so special are that the performers, looking, dancing and acting as if they were in their thirties are all of an age where most people retire to golf, television and bridge. The show attracts people from all over the world, and the article – by Walter Glaser and ex-president of the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association, Linda-Marie Singer, describes the show and its performers. |
