Palaces to dream in

During the British Raj period in India, the fabulously wealthy Maharajahs of Rajasthan built monumental palaces that matched Britain's finest in splendour. When India gained its independence, these Maharajahs lost their power and the palaces were no longer centres of administration. Some were partly turned into luxury hotels, and this article describes one of the finest of these, and what you can expect to find there.
