Good Habits in a Buddhist Nunnery |
![]() |
| Perhaps it is fate that what had been considered Tibetan Buddhism for centuries, is now returning to Northern India. When the Dalai Lama escaped to India in 1959 and established his base there, he took with him a form of Buddhism which had actually originated in India and had come to Tibet during Yarlung empire. In the last few decades a vast number of Buddhist monks and nuns have moved back across the Himalayas from Tibet to Northern India, where they have greatly strengthened the Buddhist base by their presence and religious devotion. Article describes a visit to a Tibetan nunnery, gives some background information on Tibetan Buddhism, and describes what you may find when you visit this remarkable establishment in Tibet. |
