IN SEARCH OF THE ELUSIVE CONDOR

High in the Peruvian Andes is the Colca canyon, a canyon that has only been recently accessible to tourists and which is, in places, twice as deep as the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The Colca is home to one of the largest groups of the elusive Condor, the bird with the largest wing-span in the world. Article describes the journey from Puno on Lake Titicaca across the snow covered altiplano (high plain) and a visit to the spot which may be one of the best condor sighting sites on Earth.
