Feel like royalty while staying at a converted castle.
When in France, there are a number of former castles and stately country homes that, now turned into hotels, will give you an idea of what it felt like to be a king or upper-level aristocrat. The French have always known how to live well, and these hotels are extraordinarily elegant, with outstanding service. Many belonged to the French Royal Family or close connections.
