Until recently, underwater sightseeing could only take place in semi-submersibles --- vessels where the passengers sat below the waterline along windows in the hull, but the top of the ship was above the surface and could pump air down into the hold. This constraint no longer applies. A Canadian company is now building fully-submersible submarines that can take tourists 120 feet under the ocean to explore depths where all the colours of the spectrum except blue have already been absorbed by the water. You can now buy one of these subs for around three million dollars (though the newer, larger ones cost more).
