An Australian Power-Play That Is Worth Watching |
|
| Clean, green, pollution-free power is everybody’s dream, and an Australian company is well on its way to producing lots of it. Estimated heat reserves at this one site should produce the power equivalent of 50 billion barrels of oil. How will they do it? In the Cooper Basin in Australia’s hot, dry outback they have found a rare combination of super-heated dry rock five kilometres under the surface. It is ideal for geothermal power production, in which water is pumped under pressure down a well, super-heated by the rocks, and brought up to generate clean, green power. The company who is doing this has impeccable credentials, a powerful board, and is backed by Australia’s largest oil explorer. Article explains the process and why those in the know are so excited about it. |
